Fairest of the Fair

It’s that time of year again; the air is warming, the birds are chirping, school is almost over, and everyone is waiting in anticipation for the 2010 Sauk County Fair. From games and rides, to the grandstand and animals, there is something for everyone in Baraboo from July 5th to the 11th this year.

Many young ladies also wait in anticipation for the selection of the Sauk County Fairest of the Fair. To all of those that this applies to, it should be known that this year, the contest will not be held during the Sauk County Fair. The board members and fairest of the fair committee have decided it would be in the best interest of the program to move the competition to the April prior to the fair each year. This will allow the next Fairest of the Fair plenty of time to enjoy her reign, as well as give her the opportunity to fully prepare for the State Fairest of the Fairs competition in January.

Further details of dates, times, and application forms will be available on the website at www.saukcountyfair.com so keep watching for updates! May all your days be fair days, and see you at this year’s Sauk County Fair!

Hello Sauk County Fair Website Visitors!

My name is Teyanna Marx and I am your current Fairest of the Fair. I was born and raised on a dairy farm just outside of Sauk City. My family's business has now turned into a certified organic crop farm and beef farm, with cats, dogs, pigs, chickens, and horses as well. My parents, Phil and Holly, and my brother Nathan, have always been my guiding light through everything I do. My roots began ten years ago at the fairgrounds in Baraboo, and over the course of those years I showed poultry, horses, swine, and various arts and crafts. I was involved in the Prairie Busy Badgers 4H club and very active in my high school FFA. I am now attending the University of Wisconsin Madison where I am double majoring in Agriculture Business Management and Dance. I am also involved in the Optima Dance Student Org., the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and vying for a spot as a member of the Association of Women in Agriculture. I am also employed as a waitress at Green Acres of Sauk City. Between my job of serving people meals and the motto in the FFA of "Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve" I have developed my own personal philosophy on life: Treat everyone you come into contact with as your number one customer. A top scale restaurant can have the best filet mignon and lobster around, but if the server is not polite, welcoming, and helpful, the experience is never fully enjoyable. The difference between a good restaurant and a great restaurant isn't always just the quality of food, but the quality of service as well. So, if you make the personal choice to serve the world and have a great life over just a good life, your tips will be worth much more than money.

May all your days be Fair Days, and I'll be seeing you in Sauk County July 5th through the 11th!
